Master P used to “Make ‘em Say Ugh” — now he’s here in LOU, making us say “yum.”
The entertainment mogul and self-proclaimed “Muhammad Ali of rap” has teamed up with Executive Chef Kendall Linhart of Swizzle Dinner & Drinks to launch a new, limited-time menu item. Not only is it delish — we tried it, of course — but it’s supporting a great local cause, too.
2X Game Changers program Future Healers will receive 20% of proceeds from the dish’s sales. The funds will be used to help the Derby City outreach program focus on building connections between the Louisville healthcare community and the inner-city youth who are most impacted by gun violence.
Master P met Christopher 2X, Executive Director of Game Changers, when he came to Louisville after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. “I’ve been here ever since,” he said. “We want to look at prevention, [so] I want to focus on young kids. Instead of sending these kids to prison, we want to send them to college.”
The new dish, dubbed Game Changers, is a twin petite angus filet with crawfish and Cajun cream sauce. Chef Kendall says it features the “holy trinity” of Cajun and Louisiana-Creole cuisine — onions, bell peppers, and celery — and pays homage to Master P’s and Chef Kendall’s Louisianan roots.
It will be available at The Galt House’s spinning, 25th-floor restaurant from Saturday, April 1 to Friday, June 30. Though we already got a taste, you can expect to see us back at Swizzle to show our support.
“We’re going to change Louisville,” said Master P. “[End] violence and crime and everything that’s going on, [and] it starts with the kids. It’s not going to happen overnight, but when we persevere, that’s how we make a difference.”
