A man who claims he was pressured with prison time is finally admitting Corey Miller is innocent(Nola News) Rap star C-Miller is one step closer to being a free man.
A key witness whose testimony helped convict the rapper of the murder of in 2002, has recanted his testimony.
Corey was convicted of gunning down Stephen Thomas inside of Club Platinum, a now-defunct nightclub in Jefferson Parish.
Kenneth Jordan was a key witness for prosecutors, but he recently signed an affidavit saying he was threatened by detectives with a 10-year prison sentence unless he testified against Corey Miller.
“I know that the individual who I saw shoot the gun was not Corey Miller,” Kenneth Jordan stated in the affidavit.
Jordan’s testimony led to Corey being convicted
of second-degree murder in 2003.
He was sentenced to a mandatory life sentence but won an appeal in 2004, after discovering prosecutors had expunged the criminal records of some of their witnesses and withheld evidence from Miller’s defense team.
In 2009, Miller was convicted of the crime in another questionable trial, because a jury member said she was pressured by other jurors to vote guilty, even though she believed the rapper was innocent.
According to sources, Kenneth Jordan will publicly recant his testimony during an episode of “Reasonable Doubt,” a true-crime series by Investigation Discovery.
It is a bold move for Jordan to come forward and make these admissions.
In the State of Louisiana, it is a felony to lie under oath on the stand, punishable with up to 40 years in prison.
But Kenneth Jordan could bolster Corey Miller case, along with a confession from another man who claims he was the alleged shooter.
In 2009, a man named Juan Flowers told authorities that he did it he was the shooter the one that fired the fatal shot.
