Percy Miller aka Master P and Team Hope NOLA is asking communities across America to put down the guns and stop the violence due to the countless killings of innocent kids losing their lives in cities like New Orleans, Chicago, Oakland, Louisville, Detroit just to name a few. Team Hope NOLA is hosting a peace rally at the Master P celebrity basketball game and inviting mother of slain 7-year old Dequante Hobbs Jr. to be a special guest. The celebrity game will be on Thursday, June 29th at Xavier University Convocation Center benefiting New Orleans youth scholarship fund.

“When I heard of this horrific tragedy I had to reach out to his family. As a father, I can only imagine what she must be going through,” says Miller. “I wanted to do something special for her, inviting her to New Orleans as my guest during Essence is just a small gesture to try and put a smile on her face. We are calling for peace. We need to send a strong message to communities across America; this senseless violence must stop.” Continued Miller.

Dequante Hobbs, of Louisville, Kentucky was shot by a stray bullet while he was in his home. Romeo Miller plans to wear the number seven jersey in memory of Dequante. “It is a complete honor for Romeo to wear seven. Everyone knows my son loved basketball and his favorite number was seven. I am so thankful that Master P and Romeo is bringing awareness to the senseless violence that is killing our innocent children,” said Norment, Dequante’s mother.
