Minnehaha’s elite 6’4 point guard Hercy Miller stressed the importance of unity in the community and awareness on police brutality after George Floyd’s death and the shooting of Jacob Blake. Minnehaha’s superstar center 7’1 Chet Holmgren admits that prejudice comes from both sides and barriers need to be broken down to move forward. The young leaders vow that they are ready to take a stand and be the difference that they want to see, starting with making sure that the people in their own community are treated equally. The student athletes have a plan of action to open their gymnasium as a polling place. They believe that real change begins with choosing the right leadership through voting.
